PENGO Serious Game

- a game is aimed at building a society that respects the cultures of others.

This is a concept of a multi-player game that allows the players to go on missions and perform series of tasks that involve critical thinking, team learning and information gathering and processing.

Focus

International youth 10-16 years old.

The game is a world of children with diverse personalities and a variety of unique cultures. Since this is a multiplayer game,  the child can play with his/her friends and learn together about world cultures and issues.

Players create their virtual characters by choosing gender and ethnicity and customizing body features. The game is a virtual 3D model of the world that allows the player to start the journey from his/her own country, meet people (other players), form teams and go on missions together. The missions are formed around the issues currently existing in the countries. The team os players would need to solve a problem of a particular kind through exploration and resource gathering. After finishing a mission one country, the players will be able to go to another country and learning about a new culture. For every completed mission players will get coins and stars.

The game trains such skills like team thinking, expression of opinion and respect for cultures. We believe that we have linked with the three most important targets the world is going for in general and children in particular, namely education through entertainment, expression of opinion in media and respect for different cultures around the world through the practice and interaction with friends and learning from them.

The idea aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals #5: to achieve gender equality and empowerment of all female players the game incorporates gender characters and maintains suitable activities for both sexes. On a more general level the idea of the game supports also SDG #16: promoting peaceful and inclusive societies to achieve sustainable development by teaching children different cultures and thus respecting religious beliefs and other peoples.
