GOALS

UNESCO MIL Hackathon is an event designed for producing actionable results. It invites people from all over the world to join for a fixed period of time to create solutions to the proposed challenges and explore opportunities in MIL. The goal is to bring awareness to the existing MIL issues, brainstorm on different solutions, validate and find the ones that can bring positive change. 

RULES

All of the ideas that teams will be working on must be their original ideas and no one at the hackathon is allowed to develop an idea that is being  already developed before.

PRIZE

Teams with the most remarkable solutions will be eligible for seed funding from UNESCO Youth Spaces Initiative (YSI). Shortlisted candidates of the hackathon will be announced during the Closing Session of the Global MIL Week 2018 Youth Agenda Forum in Riga, Latvia, and livestreamed on Facebook at 17:00 CET on Friday, 26 October. The announcement will be followed by validation of team proposals, including age of the team members, and determination of the amount of seed funding.

CRITERIA

  1. Excitement. Great idea is innovative and excites the jury.

  2. Feasibility. Great idea can be implemented – either right away or with a longer time frame.

  3. Impact. Great idea has influence on everyday life of a group/groups of people.

  4. Connection to Media and Information Literacy. Great idea addresses the chosen MIL hackathon theme.
